How the Venturi Scrubber Works
Step-by-step working principle of the Venturi Scrubber — NAPCEN design
Exhaust gas enters the venturi throat at high velocity (60–120 m/s), creating a low-pressure zone.
Scrubbing liquid is injected at the throat — high velocity shear atomizes it into fine droplets.
Particulates and soluble gases are captured as gas-droplet mixture collides intensely.
The mixture decelerates in the expanding diffuser section where droplet coalescence occurs.
Mixture enters a cyclonic separator where liquid droplets are removed by centrifugal force.
Clean gas exits from the separator top through a final mist eliminator.
Collected slurry settles in the sump and is pumped out for disposal or treatment.
